Abstract
In previous years, a high standard of accuracy in hobbing machine correction and gear production was achieved by laborious and painstaking work. Today, accurate gears are the rule rather than the exception, and manufacturing plant is usually fully utilized. Serious interruption to manufacturing schedules can no longer be tolerated for maintenance of the established product quality. The paper seeks to examine some of the more modern procedures and equipment, and to mention those areas in particular which require constant vigilance and attention to ensure that a gear manufacturing plant is maintained at high standards of quality and efficiency.
