During the past 10 years there have been many changes in the conception and detail design of marine-turbine propulsion gearing. The paper reviews these changes as they apply to merchant and naval applications, and deals in turn with questions of loading, gearcase arrangement, and detail component design. Suggestions are made about the direction of future development.
