Abstract
The acoustic comfort of cars is considered on the bases of measurements and subjective judgement. The two causes of discomfort, resonance and excessive sound level, are discussed separately, with special emphasis on resonances of the car body. The sources and transmission of noise are considered and different techniques of noise reduction examined. Sound insulation is treated in detail.
