Abstract
The paper describes those couplings which are two-element hydrodynamic transmissions in themselves and a practical approach to formulating a comprehensive prediction of fluid coupling performance is suggested. It deals with a selection of a coupling for a specific application with direct reference to the special design restrictions imposed by automatic gearbox applications. Mass production needs and testbed work on a prototype are also described.
