Abstract
A study of the transient thermal load in axisymmetrical bodies requires a history of the heat transfer at the surfaces of cones with many apex angles. The work described in this paper is based on a vertical cone with 2 ft base and an apex angle of 60°, rotating at 100–700 rev/min in condensing steam at pressures from 1 to 13 atm. Drainage of the condensate is by centrifugal force. Heat transfer in these ranges of speed and pressure has been studied and is discussed.
