The development of fuelling systems for the gas-cooled power reactors in the U.K. is discussed from the standpoint of the principal customer, the Central Electricity Generating Board. The paper concentrates on the developing philosophies of the various designs for the Magnox power stations from Bradwell and Berkeley to Wylfa, and for the new A.G.R. power stations—Dungeness ‘B’ and Hinkley Point ‘B’.
