Abstract
A universally adaptable digital computation program for the calculation of scavenging and supercharging has been worked out. The program can be used for the evaluation of existing and new engines cycles. It permits the simultaneous calculation of the thermodynamic state for engines with any number of cylinders, in the admission- and exhaust-receiver (joint receiver or single receiver) and in piston-underside pumps, utilized as a scavenge aid. Any given pressure—volume—characteristics of blowers, compressors and turbines can be included in the calculation. In particular this program is very suitable for the calculation of scavenging and combustion including effects of heat transfer.
