The counter described counts the number and amplitude of peaks present in the waveforms generated by surface texture measuring apparatus. Two blocks of tunnel diodes are used to form two interlaced thresholds which determine the ‘rising’ and ‘falling’ switch points. The input waveform can be ranged and scaled to match the total excursion of the waveform and the minimum amplitude peak to be counted.
