Abstract
The authors review the literature on the theoretical analysis of the creep of thick-walled vessels subjected to internal pressure, and the very limited amount of experimental work reported so far. It is concluded that extensive creep data on thick-walled cylinders with associated tension and torsion creep data for a realistic engineering material are required, in order to test the validity of the various theories proposed and to develop the analytical treatment.
This paper forms one of four devoted to research into the creep of thick-walled cylinders.
