Abstract
These comments may be summarized in the following terms: the contribution that the physicist can make to tribology will be greatly increased by effective and enlightened collaboration with the chemist, metallurgist and engineer. In this work they will all need refined equipment. But, taking the longer view, men and ideas may well prove to be more important than machines and computers.
