Abstract
Courses of an Engineering Science type available in the U.K. are surveyed and classified, including those which run alongside specialized engineering courses. Some of the courses enable even the decision between engineering and mathematics or physics to be postponed by students.
The arguments for Engineering Science courses are reviewed, considering the needs of both the individual and industry. Some of the problems of organizing Engineering Science courses are explored.
