Abstract
In the first part of this paper the question of fan noise in power generating plants is considered, concerning sound generation, propagation, attenuation, and measurement. Some examples of fan sound spectra from existing boiler plants are presented and the possible future trends are mentioned. The paper secondly deals with the design of nuclear plant gas circulators as a means of avoiding excessive sound power generation with its consequent possibility of structural damage.
