Abstract
the fluid film Thickness in conventional bearings will be influenced by the elastic distortions of their housings. This elastic distortion can arise from the oil film pressure and will in turn modify the pressure distribution. The present investigation is aimed at putting an order of magnitude on the modifications to the pressure distribution. At this preliminary stage only the mathematical methods to be used and one or two initial results will be presented.
