Abstract
The importance of electrical auxiliaries in generating stations and the desirability of providing them with an independent source of power is discussed. The requirements of such a source are enumerated and the enumeration points to the conclusion that the aero-type gas turbine is eminently suitable for this duty.
The characteristics of the aero-type gas turbine are described and experience with the plant installed at Hams Hall generating station is given.
Typical plant under construction is described, and the method of incorporating gas turbines into the electrical distribution system of a power station.
Some economic aspects are discussed.
