Abstract
For some years, a programme of research into the aerodynamic performance of inward flow radial turbines has been conducted by Ricardo & Co. under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Aviation.
The paper describes this experimental work and presents an edited version of the principal test results. The sensitivity of turbine performance to changes in the major design variables such as nozzle angle, rotor size, and rotor shape is illustrated and the effects of practical variables such as tip clearance and leakage flows are recorded.
