Abstract
The paper* Was first presented at an Ordinary Meeting of the Automobile Division of The Institution of Mechanical Engineers, at Headquarters, 1 Birdcage Walk, Westminster, London, S.W.I, on Tuesday, 14th April 1964. It was again presented at the S.A.E. National Powerplant Meeting, Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.A., on 20th October 1964, under the Chairmanship of Professor Philip S. Myers†.
The discussion papers and the authors' reply which followed this second presentation of the paper were forwarded to the Institution by Professor P. S. Myers on 16th December 1964 and were approved for publication in this volume
