Fuel-cell technology is briefly reviewed with particular reference to the more fundamental aspects of the subject. Theoretical and practical efficiencies are discussed together with a mention of limiting factors and indications of how these may be improved. The technology is then discussed under the headings of Basic Mechanisms, Electrode Structures, and Temperature of Operation.
