In the paper the methods for measuring cylinder-liner wear using radioactive tracer techniques are discussed, and the manufacture and installation of a liner made of aluminium and cast iron are described. Also a method for measuring piston-ring and cylinder-liner wear simultaneously is described. In addition in the paper the selection of the electronic instruments and the factors affecting the design of the mechanical equipment associated with these techniques are considered.
