Abstract
After outlining public-service vehicle maintenance schemes prior to the 1939–45 war, the development of post-war chassis design and its effect on maintenance technique is reviewed. The trend of vehicle component failures during the pre-war and post-war periods suggests modifications in maintenance practice. General design trends relating to the public-service vehicle chassis in the near future are predicted.
