The performance of four single compressor rotors in rotating stall is described. Using an earlier work, Al-Daini and Railly (1)‡, theoretical maps of performance are constructed using a blockage factor αm (related to losses) for each of the tested rotors. It is shown that these maps may be used to give a good indication of whether a single compressor rotor will experience progressive or abrupt stall.
