Abstract
The calculation of the complete, three-dimensional, subsonic, non-viscous flow in turbo impellers of arbitrary shape (axial, radial or mixed flow) is presented. The finite-element method is used to solve modified subsonic Wu equations. The solution is carried out using four basic algorithms: (a) axisymmetric flow calculation in the meridional surface, (b) flow calculation on an axisymmetric blade-to-blade surface, (c) non-axisymmetric corrected flow calculation on a meridional surface, and (d) flow calculation on a non-axisymmetric blade-to-blade surface. These basic algorithms are combined into a calculation procedure in which algorithms a and b are used as the first two steps, and algorithms c and d are alternately used until convergence is achieved. Algorithms b, c and d are applied to a number of stream surfaces.
