An exact solution to end reactions of a close coiled helical spring rotating about an axis perpendicular to that of the spring is shown. The solution allows for the general case of a spring initially offset longitudinally to the centre of rotation but restrained against bowing.
The solution requires knowledge of spring dimensions and free and installed length.
