A study is made of systems based on screw-setting and tension control, and the behaviour of a four-stand tandem mill when subjected to small disturbances from the steady state is investigated by using an electronic simulator.
Screw-setting control and control of tension through control of roll speed are the practical variables which can be used in the automation of a tandem mill and a possible closed loop system of control is discussed.
