Existing correlations for the heat transfer coefficient to water in forced convection appear to deviate from the mean lay of results by as much as ±20 per cent. A new correlation for fresh experimental data is therefore suggested, which introduces the shear force at the wall of the tube into an existing dimensionless expression.
