Abstract
Details are given of methods of calculation of thermal stresses and deflections in complex piping systems, suitable for use with a digital electronic computer. A résumé of a working computer programme for multi-branch unconstrained systems is made, and a six-anchor three dimensional example solved automatically by this programme is described.
Extension of matrix analysis for the more complicated constrained and looped layouts is developed in Appendix I, where a method of interconnecting solutions of subsystems to give solutions of piping structures of very great complexity, is outlined.
