Hip fractures are a common problem and many devices have been utilized in the fixation of these fractures. The fixation of hip fractures is reviewed. A new expanding, sliding, compression nail is described. The nail's unique feature is its ability to be expanded within the femoral head providing secure fixation to the proximal fragment.
