A discrete step goniometer has been developed which measures the total integrated angle of elbow flexion and extension movements. It is compact, comfortable and convenient to wear and use. Preliminary results have shown that it is sufficiently accurate for most clinical applications if calibration is carried out prior to the experiments and it should prove to be a useful device in diagnosis, evaluation of treatment and normal data collection.
