Abstract
The Polytechnic of Central London is situated within close proximity of some of the best research hospitals in the country. It was about ten years ago that the clinician became more aware of the contribution that the engineer could make in medicine and it was at that time that the multi-disciplinary Bio-engineering Research Group was formed at the PCL.
The Group works within the School of Engineering and Science and is funded by the Polytechnic and the following grant awarding bodies: MRC, SRC, EEC and the National Fund for Research into Crippling Diseases. The staff consists at present of two members of the teaching staff, two research fellows, three research assistants and two research students.
