Abstract
Intrinsic to the fixed axode traced by the instantaneous screw axis of a linkage coupler are measures which quantify aspects of the body's higher-order kinematics. One such entity, held to be fundamental, is the parameter of distribution of the ruled surface. An integral feature of the instantaneous screw, however, is its own pitch which must be nullified in the customary method for investigating the surface. Not only is there value in retaining this pitch in the interest of easing algebraic manipulation of consequent expressions, but doing so allows the discovery of important relationships involving the central tangent surface of the axode and the pitch of its typical generator.
