Abstract
An analytical and numerical method, based on the equivalent surface current density theory for magnetic field modelling has been used for characterizing the behaviour of some basic configurations of axially and radially magnetized ring-shaped magnetic bearings, also superimposed in a conic shape. The forces and stiffnesses versus the geometric and magnetic characteristics of rings have been calculated also in relation to the possible stability of conic bearings.
