Abstract
In the software agent research field, the incorporation of intelligence and emotion into virtual humans (humanoid agents) created on a computer has been studied in order to establish smooth communication with users. In this paper, a system has been developed to simulate household renovations for family members with disabilities equipped with these technologies and emotion recognition technologies to establish more realistic agents. In this simulation system, a virtual character representing a person with a disability has been created. This simulated being will ‘experience’ the renovations before they are conducted. If there are any problems, they can be fed back to the renovation design. The developed emotion recognition method, to which transactional analysis is introduced, enables dialogue by taking the psychological states of the user and the humanoid agent into consideration.
