Abstract
This paper presents a mixed-sensitivity H∞ design for the ALSTOM gasifier benchmark challenge. The controller has been designed with the linearized plant model at the 100 per cent operating point. Performance and robustness specifications were expressed in the frequency domain. The controller has been tested on the 0, 50 and 100 per cent load models. Input and output limits were not exceeded during the tests apart from the gas pressure when testing the controller on the 0 per cent load model. Clearly, this design demonstrates the effectiveness of an H∞ approach in stabilizing the gasifier for different operating points with good robust performance.
