Abstract
Abstract
The direct air-cooling steam turbine has been more and more widely used due to global climatic change. For investigating the properties of the wet steam flow in an LP direct air-cooling steam turbine, measurements with an optical—pneumatic probe were carried out in a 300 MW turbine. Part 1 of this article presents the measurement results of wetness, size distribution of fine droplets, and other information. In this part, the flow field, including the yaw angle, pitch angle, Mach number, and velocity in different backpressures are presented. Due to higher backpressure, windage occurs much more in direct air-cooling steam turbines. The flow field and wetness in windage were investigated and measurement results are presented.
