Abstract
Abstract
This paper presents an evaluation method for plant systems that comprise many parts, typically systems that are formed by the synthesis of proprietary equipment. The evaluation method is intended for use in a design review exercise before construction or when considering plant enhancement. Maintainability and reliability considerations are integrated with plant performance parameters in the assessment method. Plant performance is assessed with respect to the proximity of the expected performance to the performance capability limits of equipment. Maintainability and reliability are assessed with respect to expected reasonable performance and by extensive check-lists. The principles of the method are given and supported by case studies.
