This paper considers the technologies that have enabled offshore hydrocarbons production to reach the existing limits, and what may be required realistically to extend these limits further at the beginning of the new millennium.
Advances are considered which relate to many parts of the world. Each has its own particular challenges. The viewpoint presented here is, however, from the United Kingdom.
