Abstract
This paper presents sensitivity analyses of a numerical method for the prediction of multiplane unbalance changes in multibearing rotating machines. Experiments were conducted on a four-bearing rotating machine where the journal-to-bearing displacements were collected for rotational speed of 3000 r/min. These displacements were used to obtain the corresponding velocities. The displacements and velocities were integrated in the time domain by using Reynolds’ generalized equation to obtain the time-dependent hydrodynamic forces. All the signals were processed to study the sensitivities of the proposed method to different noise levels and different experimental data. The results showed promising future practical applicability.
