A previous paper by the authors (1) obtained expressions for the ratchetting rates of a Bree cylinder subjected to a cyclic internal pressure load together with a cyclic through-wall thermal gradient. The two cases of these loads varying in-phase and out-of-phase were considered. The work reported here considers the same loading situation, but obtains the plastic strain loop width in the alternating plasticity and ratchetting regimes. The result of this analysis is found to be in agreement with numerical studies.
