Abstract
Abstract
The development and calibration of a rig and an axisymmetric lead alloy component for isothermal creep, non-isothermal creep, and thermal ratchetting testing is described.
Steady and variable, axial mechanical loads are applied by a dead weight and lever system. Thermal loads are applied by controlled variations of the temperature of water flowing through the bore and along the outside of the component. Strains and temperature are measured with electrical resistance strain gauges and thermocouples, respectively.
