Abstract
Abstract
The constructional detail of a bracket attached to a pad-reinforced cylindrical vessel and subjected to a radial load is studied experimentally. An approximate analysis which is based on experimental observations of the load distribution in the bracket is developed. It allows a complete stress analysis of the reinforcing pad and vessel. Stress distributions determined using this analysis show general agreement with experimental stress distributions. Stress calculations based on the BS1515 method of assessment result in values greater than the measured stresses.
