Abstract
This instructional activity involves an interactive computer-video program developed from a school referral case. Graduate students critically examine information about a case, then render their opinion based on the referral. A laser disc along with accompanying videos of various assessment procedures are combined in a complete “station” in the university's computer lab. A primary advantage of the interactive case format is that the students can experience authentic cases complete with primary data prior to, or in conjunction with, actual field-based coursework or practica. Case findings and student opinions can then be discussed and critically evaluated as part of the learning experience.
