DYASIM is a FORTRAN program that performs various statistical computations that assess the degree of similarity of dyadic data. In this article, we describe the demonstration of DYASIM in classroom settings to illustrate the specific conceptual difficulties associated with measuring dyadic similarity. Presented within the context of the similarity-complementarity debate pertaining to mate selection, the demonstration shows the relevance of abstract statistical concepts to a problem that is important in the lives of most students.
