Abstract
In order to assess the degree to which concepts taken from sociobiology have been incorporated into the discipline of psychology, the coverage given to this topic in 37 introductory psychology textbooks was examined. The results indicated that most of the books provided some discussion of sociobiology, but it was typically superficial and there were often significant errors of interpretation of the theory. If coverage of sociobiology in introductory textbooks is an indicator of how the concept is viewed within psychology, it appears that most psychologists regard the theory rather lightly.
