Abstract
The preservative treatabilities of C. pachyceras and G. brevis sapwood and heartwood were examined using a modified European pre-norm (prCEN/TR14734). Treatability was assessed by measuring depth of penetration of treating fluid and uptake along different planes. C. pachyceras sapwood and heartwood were found to be difficult to treat and G. brevis sapwood and heartwood easy to treat using the classification methods in the pre-norm. Fungal staining of G. brevis was found to reduce penetration of the treatment fluid.
