Abstract
An electrolyte based on Pb and Cd perchlorate was developed and employed to produce adherent alloy deposits containing 10-20 wt-%Cd. The optimum experimental results for electroplated alloys were obtained from perchlorate solutions containing 208 g L−1 Cd and 40 g L−1 Pb at current densities of approximately 6 A cm−2. The performance of these solutions was strongly sensitive to the addition of organic agents such as resorcinol and pepsine. Initial wear tests were also carried out in order to evaluate deposit performance under various loading conditions.
