Abstract
New homogeneous stress-strain curves were determined for a material made of a thin reactive zinc stearate/phosphate bilayer coating and a neighbouring parent steel in order to improve the accuracy of contact friction database contents. The new procedure involves Brinell hardness testing, the tests being performed within a wide range of loadings. The stress-strain curves were plotted from inverse method calculations which refer to non-linear finite element modelling of the indented zone. The coating and the neighbouring steel were considered as homogeneous materials.
