TSpray forming is emerging as an attractive technology to produce near net shaped components from a variety of alloys. It involves sequential droplet generation via gas atomisation and droplet consolidation on a substrate. Requirements for online real time control of the microstructure, shape, and yield of the preform are delineated. The use of high and low resolution process models to develop the necessary knowledge inverse operator for knowledge based spray forming is described.
