Melt extraction and melt overflow rapid solidification processes provide excellent production routes for the manufacture of fine metallic particulate. The processes offer exact control over particulate dimension and composition, and flexibility in the use of standard or non-standard alloys. Material produced in this way can be either directly compacted or chopped and milled to a desired sieve size. The structure and properties of typical materials produced by these methods are described. PM/0422
