The basic principles of the forging of powder preforms are explained and the advantages of the process indicated. The development of the Petro-Forge system and the necessary equipment are described, together with an exhaustive series of tests devised to determine the effect of production variables on the product. The wide range of products obtainable is illustrated by examples.
