The various powder-consolidation techniques have been evaluated, applying technical and economic considerations to select two productive routes: one for mild-steel strip suitable for subsequent welding into tubes and the other for seamless-tube manufacture. Both routes were then examined in detail to determine individual and collective operative costs. Finally, each route was appraised as a capital investment project.
