Abstract
The direct roll compacting process for the consolidation of particulate material into sheet form is discussed. Comparisons are made between the compacting characteristics of fine and coarse particles.
Reynolds Metals Company's Compacted Sheet Process is outlined and the mechanical properties of material produced by this process, derived from a statistical sampling programme, are presented. Technical and commercial aspects are considered, as well as the metallurgical characteristics of sheet produced from coarse particles.
